Today is a coordinated national day of action aimed at members of the House of Representatives to tell them to stop trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and to vote “NO” on any bills that would take health insurance away from seniors. We have some state-specific fact sheets to help you in your advocacy.
Although we fought back against recent efforts in Congress to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with the American Health Care Act (AHCA), leaders in Congress say they will continue their efforts to pass a health care bill that would eliminate coverage for 24 million individuals and gut Medicaid funding to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.
This week, Congress is wrapping up a two-week recess, so you have the opportunity to tell members of Congress just how harmful these proposals are for older adults. Attend a Town Hall, or call your member now at 1-866-426-2631 and tell him or her to protect Medicaid and stop trying to repeal the ACA. If you’re on social media, use #ProtectOurCare and #ResistRepeal.
If your state isn’t in the list below, use the information in our general Fact Sheet on the AHCA and older adults when you call your representative.
Older adults have a lot to lose if any one of the changes under the AHCA are successful, so let’s make sure Congress knows just how bad this is for seniors.
